Lookie, Lookie

…look at who I found at the airport today…

Fourteen, people. I’m in trouble, aren’t I?

Welcome home, Elia!  We’re sooo glad you’re here! :)

Kaitlin + Kerry : Married! : Shawnee Inn, Poconos

We think of weddings and immediately start counting bridesmaids, picturing lavish, ornate gowns and fascinating over Jimmy Choo heels. While weddings come with their set of protocols, adding a twist on the traditional aspects and a dash of personality converts a wedding into a celebration of two individuals in love. Katilin and Kerry did away with most of the standard traditions that most are used to seeing at weddings.  They celebrated their entire day together. They helped each other get ready. They enjoyed each other all day and savored each moment of their wedding day together.  After all, isn’t that what weddings are about?  In the end, it’s all about your day, together. They were married in a place that has special meaning to them. The Shawnee Inn…where they have spent many a summer together.  And even though rain loomed, it was a beautiful day and a gorgeous celebration of their love for each other.

Three of Kaitlin’s B.F.F.’s that got to watch everything come together.

Yes, she is lacing up her wedding day chucks. :)

Let’s go get married!

But before that…we stopped for some portraits.

Ok…now let’s go get married…

Their reception room was beautiful…complete with access to the outside where everyone was allowed to flow in and out and have fun.  Daisies are Kaitlin’s favorite…

and of course, their gorgeous sparkly cake!

Sharing their first dance…

And one more portrait…because I just love it!

Kaitlin and Kerry…your wedding day was perfect!  Thank you sooo much for allowing me to share it with you!

To view more pictures from their wedding, here is their SLIDESHOW.

I’d also be remiss if I didn’t thank my assistant, the uber fabulous, Virgina Carden. Thanks, Virginia!! :)

Jenelle and Joe: Sneaky Peaky

And then tonight…I got to spend my evening with these guys. :)

Meghann and Matt : Total Sneaky Peaky

Last night, I had the pleasure of spending my evening celebrating the marriage of these two…

Congratulations, Meg and Matt!

Secrets and Stories and Weddings…oh my!

I don’t think things have ever been as crazy, hectic and exciting all rolled into one as they have been in our house for the past two months. But before I get into all of that… I have to post about these two. So, be on the look out…it’s coming really, really soon.

I know…I’m just horrible making you wait like that… :)

Happy Papi’s Day

In this house, Father’s Day isn’t about neckties and breakfast in bed.  His only request is just a day with his family.  Just hanging out.

There is no better father, no better friend, no better playmate.  He’s a get on the floor and play, dad…be it army men or Barbies.  He tucks you in at night, gives plenty of kisses and hugs, reads extra chapters in story books at bedtime. There’s not a boo-boo that he won’t kiss. Not a Tom and Jerry or Hannah Montana episode he hasn’t watched.  Simply put, he’s nothing short of amazing.  I rest assured that our kids will grow up with an excellent example of what a father should be…that they are loved immensely…that there is nothing in this world that he won’t do for them.

Mike…you are so very, very loved.  Happy Papi’s Day!

Maria : Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday…to the sassiest 18 year old I know. :)

Nicole + Matt: Engaged : Valley Forge National Park

When we met, she was all smiles and giddy as she described their wedding plans and how they met. He listened intently and studied everything…mainly, his beautiful fiance.  She dreamy, he’s practical.  They go together…like a wink and a smile.  Nikki and Matt met in college and have been inseparable since.  This July they’ll be joined as man and wife and I am super thrilled to be a part of their day.  :) They have a fabulous wedding planned at one of my favorite venues, The Inn at Leola Village.

We met halfway at Valley Forge National Park to get to know each other and shoot their engagement session.  I always find that it’s my favorite part of working with a couple.  They’re more relaxed (although it takes a little bit to get there), they’re more lovey dovey and it’s just an over all fun time for all of us.

We had friends sharing the sweet light…

For more…check out their SLIDESHOW.  Don’t you just hate it when I leave you wanting more?! :)

Daniel

No one but his mother (my sister), calls him Daniel.  To us, he’s DJ.  And this weekend he graduated from high school.  I can’t begin to tell you how immensely proud of him I am.  As he heads off to college this fall, the future is full of possibilities for him and just so very promising for all of us that get to live in a world where he’s going to be among the ones that achieves great things.

DJ Circa 1995 (pre-K graduation)

DJ 2009 (high school graduation)

Cary and John (and Daddy, too)…AMAZING job!  Congratulations to you too!

One of THOSE weekends…

Did you ever have one of those weekends where your chi was just so totally off that even though everything turned out fabulous, the getting to the fabulocity was just a bitch?! Yeah, it was sooo one of those weekends for me.

Before I share the fabulous, read my venting and emphatize.

Friday….I decided that I was over the highlights in my hair (actually, I was over the cost of said highlights), so I went to Target and bought my standard hair color….only they didn’t have my normal hair color and I went with second best and after drenching my hair in the stuff and making Mike wear the glovies so that he could get the back of my head and waiting the allotted time, I screeched when I looked in the mirror at my frizzy hair and exclaimed, “CRAP! I look like Cher!”

Saturday…fabulous wedding…spectacular locations…AMAZING couple…torrential downpour.  This shot was taken in said downpour with my fabulous assistant, April, holding an umbrella over my head and camera.  See? Fabulousness!  Just hell to get there.

Saturday morning, as I’m getting ready to go shoot Becky and Mark’s wedding, I realize that my make-up bag is no where to be found.  No.Where.  I drilled people, I searched the house, I even cleaned out my car. Nothing.  Girls…you feel my pain.  My face was in there!  Even though I’m not one to wear too much, I LOVE my MAC products. And now, it’s gone.  So, I braved the public with generic makeup and with the rain and humidity I’m sure I was just lovely once the ceremony was over.

Sunday…UGH!  Is it over yet?! There I am, blissfully working away on backing up images when I get to the last card and get that dreaded message that every photographer fears…”your images are corrupt…throw out that piece of crap card because it’s now shot.” After sweating bullets, determining that I needed more coffee and focusing, problem solved.  Images rescued and card thrown away.  I don’t think the issue is the card, but I’m not taking any chances.

Sunday afternoon, I realize that I really need to buy makeup so I head out and nearly keel over when I’m told how much just the basics costs.  Really? Are you kidding me that foundation, concealer, brushes, blush, lipstick (just one color), lip pencil, sharpener, mascara and powder…oh, and a cute new bag…costs THAT much?!

THEN…as I’m getting ready to meet up with tonight’s uber fabulous couple for their engagement session, I see that there’s a message on my phone.  Nick saying, “uh…are you coming?”  Yeah…apparently my brain went on vacation and didn’t send me the memo because my session with Nick and Jenn was at 4 and here it was, 10 of 5 and I could have sworn that we were meeting up at 6.  Nice! Despite our late start, we got some fantabulous sweet light and even more fabulous images.  See?

So…that, Internet, wraps up my weekend.  Fabulous in the throws of adversity.  Bring on Monday!
