After her first dress fitting, Holly and I went to dinner and she told me the sweetest story:
Wayne’s mother and father, when they owned their house, had a small farm on the property and on the farm lived a pair of geese. I never knew that geese mate for life. One night a fox got into the coup and killed the female goose. The male goose was distraught…morned the loss of his love, moped around endlessly, until time passed and the attention that Wayne’s mother had paid to the male goose grew into affection on the goose’s part and he fell in love with her. Everytime Wayne’s mother would be out hanging laundry, the male goose would hang around at her feet and peck at Wayne’s dad chasing him away if he thought he was getting too close to his new “mate.” Geese mate for life…
People were bundled and bustling around the Lambertville Winter Festival. Roads were closed, parades were running, ice sculptures were being carved, and in the middle of it all, Holly and Wayne were getting married. It was a day that took a year to plan, full of details that tie a wedding together, filled with love from close family and friends.
From the moment I was told that they were getting married, I knew I wanted to photograph it. I wasn’t going to take “no” for an answer; but as the day grew closer, I became a nervous wreck…it was, afterall, one of my dearest friend’s wedding that I would be documenting. As the day started to unfold and I started snapping away, the nerves started to calm and I was happy to be sharing the most intimate of details with Holly and Wayne as they got ready to say their vows. Knowing both of them really helped in capturing the details that I knew they wanted to have captured…the cuff links that Wayne meticulously picked out, the bling that Holly would be wearing…the moments in between that made the day special.
After I uploaded the 1,200 images I shot and started going through them, weeding out the ones that I wanted to use for this blog entry and their slideshow, I knew I was up against a hard task. There are a ton of images that I absolutely love, not so much for their perfect exposure or composition, but because it captures Holly and Wayne and their love for each other. Even though I’ve been around it for nearly 4 years (am I right, Hol?), it was tear jerking for me to witness it on an even more personal level…kind of like a behind-the-scenes look. I hope I did it…their wedding day…justice.
Below are some of my favorites…however, I there are a TONS more in their SLIDESHOW…quite possibly the longest slideshow I’ve created to date. Make sure to check it out.
Holly’s gorgeous Maggie Sottero gown

The making of a bride…

Meanwhile…across the street at the Lambertville House… the making of a very happy and excited groom!

We hit the bar right before heading over to The Lambertville Inn Station…

I must have made a silly face to get her to giggle…I doubt that the wine we were drinking had already hit us by that point.
Holly’s bouquet was sooo pretty!

So was Holly…

Oh, yeah, Wayne was pretty handsome too!

And yes, I did drag them outside in 20 degree weather to get pictures on the New Hope Bridge…

Then it was time to get married…

Oh, and the inscription on the ring read ”You are my goose”
Their first dance…
And, of course, my favorite part…
It was an amazing day, celebrating the love of two amazing people whom I love dearly. Holly and Wayne, I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am for you and how honored I felt to be able to document your wedding. I wish you a world of happiness. Have fun in St. Lucia! While you’re in your jacuzzi hot tub basking in the warm 80 degree sunny weather, we’ve had the pleasure of a snow day.
Oh, and before I forget…my fabulous assistant for the day, Alli Stark…love her! She’s a fabulous photographer in her own right and I totally expect to see great things from her in the near future. Alli, thanks sooo much for your invaluable assistance on Saturday!
