Back when cars were cars

One of our favorite things to do together is checking out car shows. Each of us for our own particular reasons…Me, for the photography aspect of it, Nico because it has cool cars, Mike because he dreams of owning one and Sydney because she’s going to be a race car driver one day.
So last week when Lansdale was hosting their yearly exposition, we were there and totally loved it.

and because I wanted to produce something more vintage, I created these too…and love how they came out.

Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right…

here I am…stuck in the middle with you.

One of my favorite songs and so appropriate as I stand between my two sisters and struck a cutie pose in Battery Park this past Friday with them.

I think the last time the three of us were together was about 17 years ago.

Connections

It’s no secret that I love to capture the connection between families when I photograph them. It’s so inspiring, so special and so reminiscent of my family growing up. Everytime I click the shutter on my camera I hope that I do their relationship justice and if the images make me smile when I get home and load them onto my computer, I know that I have.

Photographing Louise and her children was nothing short of pure fun and enjoyable. Despite the heat, we had a great time. I was in stitches with the boys and found it totally cool that her daughter lived and worked on a horse ranch in Wyoming.
Louise, it was a pleasure meeting you, Joe, Mike and Jessica. I had a great time with you!
These are some of my favorites from their session…and below is their slideshow.

The Naked Cowboy

I had heard of him and was itchin’ to see him in person. As we walked down Time Square, there he was…surrounded and cute as can be.

The Naked Cowboy.

…with my niece, Maria, on her 17th birthday!

Philly

I love seeing sights like this around my city. Totally cool!

Dad’s Day

There’s no doubt in my mind that these two jokers have the best dad around.
Happy Father’s Day to all the great dads out there in internet land!

Kelly and Lizzie

I’ve known Kelly before Lizzie was around. But I knew that Kelly and her husband, John, had imagined and dreamt and loved Lizzie before they even held her in their arms for the first time. The love that parents have for their children is indescribeable…and though I find myself unable to put words together to describe the love that Kelly has for her daughter, what I do find myself doing is smiling whenever I’m reminded of our session.
Kelly wanted something special for her husband for Father’s Day. A gift that no department store would be able to carry…she wanted me to help her capture the connection between her and her daughter and create something amazing for John to love and smile over…something that would remind him of the love and appreciation that she has for John. No pressure, right?!
Kelly is amazing. She’s sweet and loving and funny as all get out. It was no surprise to know that she was totally in love with her daughter from the second the pregnancy test came back positive. She glowed from that instance on. Seeing her with Lizzie would bring a smile to anyone’s face. She dotes on her daughter the way that any parent would and shows a love for her that you can see in her eyes.
To make the session even more special, Kelly and John are expecting a brand spankin’ new little guy in the fall! I am beyond excited for them and can’t wait to meet sweet baby James. There is no doubt in my mind that Kelly and John’s heart has already expanded to include their new baby and no doubt that Lizzie will be an amazing big sister!
I hope I did justice to Kelly’s vision of a gift for John and I hope that John gets a big, fat smile this Sunday as he see what amazing women love him unconditionally and wholeheartedly.

Enjoy, Kel! You and Lizzie are totally awesome!

My friend Rita

I have a friend.
She’s the kind of friend that just cools you off whenever you’re at a boiling point. She’s totally chill and relaxing. She’s the kind of friend that everyone wants to have and that everyone loves. I visit her every chance I get. She’s always up for something new. She’s totally fun and I just can’t think of a better friend to spend my summer days with.

She’s my friend, Rita.

And…have you tried the new peach flavor?! O.M.G.!

Stinkin’ hot

You know it’s hot when your chocolate popsicle melts faster than your tounge can lick it. He tried really hard, though, and when more of it was on his hands and face, as opposed to in his tummy he said, “mom, can I have a do over?!”

It was a whopping 97 degrees here today. Totally felt like Florida.

Graduation

When we enrolled Nicholas at St. Jude’s this year we never imagined that he would have learned so much throughout the year. Two weeks into school and he was already writing his name as if he had been writing it for years! It has been awesome watching him come home each day having been excited about what he learned and eager to show us.

His teachers were absolutely amazing. There has been no doubt in our minds that he loves them. His class was everything that we had wanted it to be and the experience with the entire school was great. It was a no-brainer that we were going to enroll him into kindergarten at St. Jude.
This past week he graduated from Pre-K. They sang songs that they had learned throughout the year. The performed a little skit about their teacher — which Nico, I might add, was the only child that spoke clearly and slowly. We had been practicing for weeks…”she tied my shoe, she fixed my hair and she helped me wipe my nose.” The ceremony was totally cute!
True to form, I snapped a bunch of shots and rather than edit them all, I selected my favorites…my top 10. Enjoy the slideshow!
