Weekend Wrap

Phewww!!

I know they call it Labor Day weekend for a reason. I did just the opposite. I shared the weekend with 5 amazing couples and wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.

Today, in celebration of completing the crazy weekend and sending the kids off on their first day of school…I took my husband out to lunch and then took a much needed nap.

Let’s recap…

Weekend Wrap

Do you have a case of the Mondays? I do. And a case of the Sundays, too.

Let’s just put it out there.  Everyone once in a while…despite how much I am loving life now…I get in a seriously pathetic funk. Yesterday, probably as a direct result of sleep deprivation, lack of fresh air, taking things said in the wrong context and looking at my fall calendar and getting completely overwhelmed, I sat in my chair, pouted and threw myself the best of pity parties. Sorry you weren’t invited. Mike was…he left early. Said it was boring. HA!

BUT, today’s Monday and it’s a gorgeous day outside and it’s cobbler night (more on that later) and I had a FABULOUS time with two amazing couples this past Saturday and Sunday and I got to hang with April and I had the season’s first Pumpkin Spice Latte. So, here’s to Monday. Here’s to fresh air. Here’s to making it work. Here’s to not having to be stuck on 476 on the way to work at a law firm. Here’s to Mike for putting up with me and coming to my pity parties when he really doesn’t want to.

Even more so, here’s to FAB clients, happy wedding days and happy Any Given Sundays…

Claudia and Eric :)

Jess and Brian :)

Dare to be different

In a world where things are consistently the same…where people tend to follow the norm, follow the beat of your own drum and dare to be different. Sprinkle your life with rainbow sprinkles.

This morning I made cupcakes. From scratch. With royal icing. From scratch. And only iced mine :)

Holly + Wayne = Wyatt Chase

We’ve been waiting a VERY long time for Wyatt’s arrival.

When he was born, his mother described him as 8lbs of delectable cuteness.  I couldn’t agree more.  Welcome baby Wyatt!! You are so ridiculously loved :)

Life as a Hipsta

It drains my iphone battery. Honestly, though, I can’t live without it.

As of late we’ve been doing a TON of traveling…both personal and for work. I’m tired. BUT, we’ve had a blast! I vowed that when I was on vacation I wouldn’t touch the camera.  In fact, I left my beloved Marky at home and put Mike in charge of our trusty point and shoot camera.  I carried nothing but my iphone. However, on my iphone I have the Hipstamatic camera app and SWOON every time I see a picture come from it. I’m obsessed. So, I’ve decided to host a new feature on ye ‘ol blog…Life as a Hipsta.

So, to let you see a glimpse…my glimpse…of where we’ve been for the past three weeks.

First up…our vacation to the House of Mouse.  The kids and Mike had never been and we had such a phenom time that the kids still haven’t stopped talking about it!

A few days later we went to Niagara Falls where we were completely soaked as we left the Cave of Winds and the Maid of the Mist.  The kids were amazed and LOVED it. Oh…and there’s one picture below that’s for my brother-in-law. :)

Our last whirlwind adventure took us to Rehoboth Beach for an AH.MAY.ZING! beach wedding. But, in our spare time, we ate, hung on the boardwalk, ate salt water taffy, ate some more and just chillaxed.

Fun Times. For Sure!

The Story of Us

It’s mine, his and ours.  Real simple, yet complicated at the same time.

We’re the strict ones. The disciplinarians. The ones that make you do homework and take showers. The ones that take you on fun vacations and exotic destinations. Together, we call our little cottage home. As of late, a complete, bursting at the seams home. And we couldn’t be happier. All of us.

So, with all of us at home, we grabbed the opportunity and took a field trip for some much needed family pictures.

This is us (and Sophie, too).

And them.

Elia.

Travis.

Sydney.

Nicholas.

At their request for an infamous jumpin’ shot.

The way we feel. Because honestly, there are only 2 of us and 4 of them. So outnumbered.

This will greet you the second you walk in through the doors of our home.

So, that’s it. Us. Complex yet simple. Crazy in love with each other…even though we’re always at each other’s throat. This zany family of mine…le sigh…just makes my heart melt.

Roxy is Foxy

Growing up there was always a pot of something cooking on the stove. Afterall, you never knew when an unexpected Cuban was going to drive an hour north just to say hi and visit us at home. So, my mother always had something on the stove…just in case.

I’ve continued the tradition. Only, except for Cubans we get teenagers. Hungry ones. Ones that enjoy cupcakes of the homemade variety. Ones that post on Facebook that they love coming over to Momma March and Mr. Mike’s house because Momma March’s cooking is “off the chain!”

Today, however, we didn’t get a teenager.  We were graced with a visit by Foxy Roxy. Though she did have her respective teenager in tow. Knowing that Roxy just started up her very own Facebook page, I thought she’d appreciate some new profile pictures. Roxy also needs friends…so definitely befriend her.  I’m sure she’d wag her tail in appreciation.

Oh…and simmering on the stove right now is some homemade pasta sauce. So, if anyone wants some homemade bowtie lasagna, stop on by. Dinner’s at 6.

What will you celebrate?

It’s been in the works for nearly two years. We decided to wait for the perfect age.  The age of wonder. The age of awe. The age of all things fun and exciting.  We are celebrating that the time is now.

We’ve packed up and we’re off to visit Mickey and the gang in the House of Mouse with the little people in our lives.

External Magic

FINALLY!! Last night it happened.  And this is totally going to seem geeked out.  But, I so don’t care! I finally, finally, finally got my external lighting to freakin’ work the way I want it to at a wedding.

I jumped up and down with happiness and happily clicked away.

I *heart* my Mac

It’s better than a text.  Better than a phone call.  Better than a letter via pigeon carrier.  I love my Mac for multiple reasons but probably the bestest reason of all is because of this…

While he’s in Florida and I’m up here, we can still see each other every day. I can’t wait ’til he comes home :)  He makes scarce appearances on the blog…but Internet, meet Travis. My true clone.
